Hawiian Night - 30th December

Contributed: Jeanette Elliot

The night before New Years Eve saw plenty of ‘Alohas’ as Waikiki beach came to the Garbe for the Hawaiian fancy dress night.
Brightly coloured shirts and garlands of flowers set off the grass skirts – and that was just the men!
The Garbe version of the Hukka got the judging rolling while the younger element showed us how to really rock and roll. Considering only two people turned up for the Hula class we had a good performance from the ladies with Hannah getting a prize for the youngest performer.
With the costume setting the theme the band really got going with the fantastic bongo drums and Jazz trumpet giving us a really good reason to loosen up the limbs in true party style.

If you didn’t take part this year give it go next time!

My thanks also go to all of you who generously dug into your pockets after the Xmas and new year day swim for shoes when I came round rattling the bucket, it helped us raise a wonderful amount for the children to get new shoes. Have a great 2007 !!!!
