Fisherman's Beach - Armacao de Pera
Armação de Pêra was originally a small fishing village where tuna used to be caught and brought up onto "Fisherman’s Beach". The net that the fishermen used to catch the Tuna in was called "Armação" and as it is very close to "Pêra", the village was named Armaçao de Pêra.

Fishing continues to be an important local activity and local fishermen can still be seen mending their nets on the beach of Armacao de Pera, selling their catch to the local market, and during the summer months they will take holidaymakers for a trip along the coastline to see the fascinating rock formations, caves and grottos.

From the desert sands of Morocco and Tunisia to the African borders and Nile Delta, we are entering on an historical journey, exploring dance in its many elements. Learn the ancient and the modern, exploring many cultures as you learn the techniques and appreciation of the many different styles which today form one of the largest and most exciting dance movements in the world.
Your tutor specialises in teaching control and isolation of movement, enabling students to build confidence early in their experience. Age and ability is no barrier to learning this wonderful form of self expression. Over fifteen years as a teacher have given your tutor knowledge of the potential blockages and ways to facilitate learning. In the past she has enabled students with many disabilities, including steel hips and blindness, to take part and feel special.
This course will take you through the basic movements, gaining co-ordination skill along the way which enables the use of veils, scarves and finger cymbals, building to dance choreography. Costume and make-up will also be explained as part of the overall performance skill.
The course takes place in the beautiful Raj at the Garbe with views through the palm trees, over the sand with waves lapping the shore. Classes are divided into two one and a half hour sessions daily. Extra classes can be arranged. Photo shoots on the beach can also be arranged as a special memento of your stay.

Painting Course Reviews

Our painting week took place at the beginning of the month - lead by Manuela Vale. We were delighted with the comments we received from two of the participants.
Not having held a paintbrush for some years - and never one loaded with acrylic paint - I was somewhat tense and apprehensive when I turned up for Manuela's Art Course. But my fears were unfounded, I was soon put at my ease and my confidence grew day by day. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, learned a lot and I am determined to carry on the good work. Thank you Manuela. Mary B.
Dear Manuela,
I just want to thank you for a very enjoyable art course, that you held this week. Your explanations and help with techniques were invaluable and easy to understand. I feel as though I learnt more in 3 days than I did back in England in 3 years. Painting on location was great and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you. June B.
We are planning more activity holidays for next winter - please contact us for information.
