CHRISTMAS DAY
We woke up to rain and grey skies - but that did not deter the Christmas Day Swimmers. More than 30 participated in the Christmas Day "*Swim for Shoes*" on the beach of Armacao de Pera, and help to raise more than 600 Euros to buy new shoes for the 44 teenagers living at the Children's Home, A Gaivota, in Albufeira.The sea was surprisingly warm and as one swimmer said very exhilarating!!!! Certificates were awarded to all those who got wet and everyone enjoyed a very welcome glass of Mulled Wine in the Hotel Garbe bar afterwards.
NEW YEARS DAY, 2006
The weather was much better and another group of dippers joined in singing Auld Lang Syne before heading for the sea. Hot chocolate in the Hotel Garbe bar rounded off an enjoyable and certainly different way to start the new year !So far more than 950 Euros has been raised in total to buy shoes and our thanks, to all who participated, donated and promoted this event. Due to the success of these events the Hotel Garbe is going to make these part of their future annual festive programme.
