The second "Algarve Ladies Lunch" took place at the Hotel Garbe in Armacao de Pera on Tuesday, 17th April - almost 90 ladies from five different clubs participated.

Helen is pictured here with Maureen Yould, President of the Western Algarve Ladies Lunch Group - who organised the first "Algarve Ladies Lunch".

The ladies enjoyed a three course buffet lunch and the opportunity to meet old and make new friends.

After lunch, each of the Presidents spoke for a few minutes about their club.

Doreen Sell, from the Hill Billy Ladies told us that in addition to lunches the group also has organised boat trips, Easter bonnet competitions and Cookery Demonstrations.

From the Western Algarve Ladies Jill Pearce told us that the group started in 1992 and held monthly lunches with speakers, also that they organised autumn coach holidays for their members.

Margaret Gobby spoke about the "youngest" club - the Lunch Bunch -just two years old.

We then heard from Pauline Thurman whose group of Probus Ladies from Oxford were enjoying a week's holiday at the Hotel Garbe. Probus is a club for retired or semi retired business people.

Helen Denman spoke about the Eastern Ladies Group which was the founding luncheon club in the Algarve way back in 1990.
