Fashion Show Success

The models from the AFPOP Fashion Show that took place here last Thursday. Our congratulations and thanks to all that participated.

Royal British Legion April Lunch

The monthly Royal British Legion lunch took place last Wednesday. The Algarve Sub-Branch now has a membership of 150 and meets the 3rd. Wednesday of every month at Hotel Garbe for lunch. Photography Competition - March, 2008 Winner

Our Judge, Adrian Bell, an experienced wedding and portrait photographer, once again had a difficult task to decide on the winning photograph - our congratulations to Mr. John Oliver who has won a weekend for two in the Hotel Garbe for his entry.



Adrian Comments: A stunningly beautiful sunset. Wouldn't you just love to be experiencing the peace and relaxation invoked by this scene?

Adrian also commended:

"This is a highly original composition. Bright and colourful. Abstract and yet contains familiar objects. The image draws you in as you attempt to discover the detailed points of interest of which there are many. As Rolf Harris would say, "Can you see what it is yet?"

By the way, this image probably should be displayed upright - look for the tables and chairs - but leaving it landscape probably adds to the mystery. "

6º International Festival of Sculpture in Sand (Fiesa 2008)

Hollywood is the theme of 6th International Festival of Sculpture in Sand - FIESA 2008, taking place in Pera this summer.

Preparations are already on the way, this year visitors will be able to enjoy the most beautiful scenes of the films of Hollywood, Fiction, mood and fancy are some of the ingredients that will be represented in sand, Charlie Chaplin, Marlyn Monroe, and King Kong are just a few of the stars.

Open in every day from 22nd May until 22nd October, between 10h00 and 24h00.
