Don't Miss - White Night - Loule - 30th August, 2008

On 30th August, the innovative “White Night” event will be back in the city of Loulé: in the shop windows, at the Cerca do Convento and in the streets.
.
Shops will be open till midnight adorned in white and with their windows decorated in due style. Jewellery shops, shoe shops and others will have special discounts for those wearing white.
.
The Cerca do Convento, in the central part of the city, will be transformed into an idyllic setting, recalling a gigantic living room where white is the common element, connecting different elements.
Over 50 artists – jugglers, fire-eaters, living statues, clowns, magicians and entertainers, all clad in white, will be bringing the event to life.
.
There will also be art on show with an exhibition by street artists, some painting live, and an exhibition of white graffiti on canvas.
.
Admission is free, but the organisers, on behalf of the local authority, appeal to everyone to wear white, as requested.

Subject: Our holiday

We have now just returned to a rather cold England following a fantastic holiday again at the Garbe.

We would like to thank you for all your help including arranging the taxi transfer which went smoothly.

Also we would also like to express our thanks to the hotel staff, many who we remember from past visits. They all act professionally and as usual were more than helpful.

We will be back again in two years time for our fifth visit and will be looking forward to it.

Regards.

Peter

July Photography Competition

Congratulations to Jamie Davis who is the winner of our July Photography Competition.

Our Judge, Adrian Bell, an experienced wedding and portrait photographer comments:- No 22 the Lizard??? is my favourite because the photographer has taken the effort to look for colour and composition by going in close on the subject. Also it is a technically proficient image with the central subject in focus but the background out of focus and therefore less distracting and so emphasising the subject even more.

Image no. 20 of the palm is worthy of note because it is a strong composition, silhouetted against a beautiful sky beach.

Our thanks to everyone who participated in the July Photography Competition - click here to see all the entries.

Also thanks to Adrian Bell for judging each month. Adrian is an experienced wedding and portrait photographer and is Director of http://www.hi-impactphotography.com/ here in the Algarve. The company specialises in Commercial Images for the Real Estate industry creating high quality photography that sells property.
We are looking forward to receiving the Entries for the August competition - closing date - 31st August, 2008. For more information please click here

Places to Visit - Monchique Mountains

An area of dramatic hills about 20 minutes by car from Armacao de Pera, the Monchique region is one where nature and traditional Portuguese culture thrive together.

Enjoy the green hills, pure air, tranquillity and dramatic views from the highest point (just over 900metres) in the Algarve - Foia.

Visit the spa village of Caldas de Monchique (known in Roman times as a spa centre), and sample the waters. Legend says they are source of eternal youth..

There are many walking trails which take you through some of the most rural areas of the Algarve, and offer spectular views across the region.
